Meet the Developer, DuckFang!
That's ME! Hi there, I'm DuckFang the developer of AtomsPast. I don't want to bore you about myself, so the quick version that will sound similar to many other developers: I (like so many others) have always loved games. They are an escape from reality for me that nothing else gets close to. Great games... they just stick with you somehow and that magic is something I'm drawn to.
As for starting AtomsPast, some of my favorite memories of playing games was duking it out with my friends playing massive fantasy and sci-fi tabletop battles.

AtomsPast 's Influences and Start
AtomsPast started as a unnamed game trying to merge deckbuilding and miniature tactics, however it just never felt quite right for what I wanted. The three biggest influences are Warmachine&Hordes (Privateer Press), Magic the Gathering (Hasbro), and Chess. And it started as a video game, not a tabletop game. After some prototypes it just wasn't sticking though and I though maybe it was because I hadn't made the system to really balance the game yet. I decided the video game side could wait, I wanted to focus on making the miniatures game I had always wanted.
AtomsPast started as my own Development System for in-game balance.
I knew I wanted to make a miniatures game that was balanced and fair. No power creep, no buying five rulebooks to play, with a great core system that doesn't need to be refreshed every three years for sales. While trying to create systems that allowed me to make Model Rules that were balanced, I wanted something flexible where I could change the values of Stats/Keywords when needed easily. My system kept getting more modular and I discovered I was having fun creating my own Rules in this way for my development games. Then the idea hit me to let everyone have this experience: They can build whatever they want and play it in the AtomsPast System.
This went hand in hand with the basic Lore ideas I had for the game. But it additionally opened up the game to be used for ANY lore players wanted to play with. And that is what really got me excited. Don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful to flesh out the Lore of AtomsPast. By it's nature it lends itself to be used for other Lore systems.
